Thursday Thirteen #9

Thirteen Things about Tracie

1. We went to the fair last night!! Katarina had so much fun-she rode every ride that they would let her on, even the little roller coasters. I was very proud of her. I will try to post some pictures this weekend.

2. Since we were at the fair, I missed Gilmore Girls and Law & Order SVU.......anyone have a quick recap??

3. Yes, I ate the Chillie Cheese Fries and the Funnel Cakes and the Fried Pickles. Yum.

4. Have you seen this Blingo button in my sidebar?? All you have to do is click on it and sign up.
Blingo Then you just use blingo whenever you are going to do a google search. You get the same search results you would be looking for anyway....and you just might win a prize (like $1,000, or movie tickets, or a plasma screen tv, or a car). You are going to google search anyway, so you might as well do it at Blingo where you could win something! And to be honest, if you sign up under me and win something, I win it to, so.....please!!!

5. Have you seen the commercials for that new show on abc, Day Break? Is it just me, or does Groundhog Day-comedy=Day Break ?

6. Mrs. Chicky has a Love Fest going on at her blog and you have until November 3rd to get in on it, so go check it out! She promises if you are particularly afraid of "love" you can just tell someone, "gee, I think that I really like you".

7. A special message to my local PBS station--no, Barney is not just as good as Mr. Rogers and randomly playing Barney during the Mr. Rogers time slot is not only unacceptable, it affects my entire day. I know that I already called you and complained (you will remember me as the woman with the loud three year old in the background shouting "no purple dinosaur-just Mr. Rogers!") but this is just a further reminder that if you do this to me again tomorrow, I will have to bring her to your station to let her complain to you in person!......and yes, that is a threat!!

8. In keeping with Mrs. Chicky's Love Fest, I have to direct you to go visit Hello Insomnia: The Devil Wears Target. I found her this week and have been feeling that "gee, I think that I really like you" feeling ever since.

9. Katarina just walked in the room and asked me what I am doing. I told her that I need to make a list of thirteen things, and asked her if she had a suggestion for one of my things. She said, "Yes, you need to tell say 25." So............25!

10. After spending six hours at the fair last night do I even need to say how sore my feet and back are?

11. There is this little girl at church that Katarina just loves. Let's give her the pretend name Sea. Sea is a few years older than Katarina and kind of spoiled and snobby. Sometimes she is super sweet to Katarina and plays with her and asks to come to our house.....but sometimes she is just not interested in Katarina at all. Like the other night when we ran into her and her family somewhere and Katarina ran up to her all excited to see her and Sea barely even looked at her and wouldn't talk to her. I just wanted to slap the kid!! The pattern seems to be that when no one else is around Sea will be her friend, but if we are in a public spot or around other kids, then she doesn't want anything to do with her. Thomas and I were talking to Katarina about it afterward and she said, "Sometimes when I see Sea, she won't talk to me and it hurts my feelings" I hate that at three years old she is already experiencing getting her feelings hurt like that.

12. I haven't watched soap operas in years, I did watch them when I was a kid. My mom was a big General Hospital-Luke and Laura fan. They left the show for years, and then when I was a kid they brought them back. My mom started taping the show and watching it again after that. Eventually I guess Laura left or got killed or in a coma or some other soap operaish means of eliminating a character. But all this week I have been seeing the commercials:
"This Thursday Genie Francis (
Laura Spencer) returns to General Hospital".........It almost makes me want to watch, but I am going to be strong and resist the temptation. Now my mom on the other hand, she might just be pulling out the old VCR again!

13. Is it just me, or does Milena Govich the new female detective on Law and Order look suprisingly like Christy Romano from that old Disney show Even Stevens?

  1. Oy, I keep missing the State Fair, and it's all finished. I have to try again next year.

My T13 is not quite up yet, it should be by morning.

  2. that sooo makes me want to go to a fair!! soundslike you had a great time

  3. Fried pickles!!! I lovvve those! We have them at a restaurant near me and people think I'm nuts when I order them. I missed Gilmore Girls too but thanks for the recap in the comments! I DVR'd it, so I'm gonna have to see it now.

    ReplyDelete
  4. 25 eh? Did you ask what it was about 25 that she loves?

    I'm up!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Oh my gosh! Genie Francis is back?!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Mmm, I could do with some chili cheese fries right about now. ;)

C'mon, you know you wanna check out Luke and Laura when she returns tomorrow -- dust off that VCR!

Thanks for visiting my TT this week!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Eww...I wanna slap little Sea, too! I don't know how I'm going to handle any snobby girl or boy being mean to my kids. Great job not losing your cool!

    Love the list!

I'm up if you wanna stop by!

  8. Thanks for visiting my TT. Yours was awsome! I love funnel cake. On SVU it had Brittney Snow and she lied about some boys raping her. She was mentally ill. There's way to much stuff that went on to put it in the comments, but it was good! I'm looking forward to the Luke and Laura reunion, and I know you are too. Set your VCR, you know want to:)

  9. vvI have to say I love fairs, and especially when one can eat cheese fries and fnnnel cakes. It's worth sore feet and a sore back for that kind of fun. I can't say I ever had a fried pickle though!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Now I wanna go to a fair! Sounds like fun! And...mmm...cakes! ;) Nice list. :)

    ReplyDelete
  11. Oh, I can give you a recap... no one wants to go up against the World series so SVU was a RERUN!! ;)

I love the fair. Arizona has theirs the last 2 weeks of October... here in Colorado we always have them in the summer... probably something about snow in October ;)

    Happy TT!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Most all of the TV shows are repeats because of the baseball finals.

The 3 major stations let you watched what you missed on the internet now I do believe.

    Happy TT!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I wish we had more fairs over here in The Netherlands!
My TT is about Halloween facts.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 25 it is! :) thanks for visiting my T13 today.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I just saw the "Experts" on TV last night. Gee, what a lot of blood and "meat" on the screen, was nice for supper !

    ReplyDelete
  16. I always forget to keep up with my tv shows... I looove Gilmore Girls, but always don't realize I've missed it till it's almost over.

  17. Lovely list - seems like you guys had alot of fun.

Thanks for visiting my TT list earlier today.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I remember Luke and Laura. I think they've been brought back several times, haven't they?

Your little one needs a few bumps along the way to help her grow and mature. But I know that's hard on mom.

    My TT is up

  19. Randomly replacing Mr. Rogers with Barney is definitely not acceptable and a good reason to flog your PBS Staion!

    Happy TT.

    My list is up.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Delightful list. Hope PBS listens. I'm sure Fred Rogers is smiling in heaven! State Fairs are always fun.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I haven't watched TV, except the Red Sox, and maybe the news, since Luke and Laura's first marriage. I guess that says a lot about why I can't comment on some of your other 13. I do so love state fairs though having grown up in a town with an amusement park (long gone now though).
    Happy Thursday.

  22. How sad that the snooty clique behavior starts so early with some girls.

I think your blog is beautiful! Very soothing color scheme.

    Thanks for visiting my Th.Th.

  23. blingo and i are in a fight. i once won movie tickets and NEVER got them!

  24. Ooh, the fair sounds like fun! She must be very brave, good for her (I hate some of the rides!). The food sounds yummy... we missed our fair and I wanted to go gorge on some junk food :)

Great T13, hope you have a wonderful day... thanks for stopping by mine earlier!

But if Genie Francis is back, I am both setting my DVR and heading home to watch in person!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yea for only children!

You have quite an age difference between you and your husband. Thanks for you comment on my blog. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I have to say, I'm not sure I like the new girl on L&O. She just seems too young to be believable. I guess that means I'm getting old.

    ReplyDelete
  30. My PBS station has been doing the same thing. I'm irked, and I don't even have a child.

    Happy TT!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I am suddenly glad that my boy doesnt watch Barney.....thou I have to deal with LOTS of Spongebob instead! Great TT. Thanks for stopping by mine!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yummmmm...Fair Food. Love Funnel Cakes and Chili Fries, never had Fried Pickles. Glad you had a great time. I agree that is so wrong to replace Mr. Rogers with Barnery.
    Happy T13!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Your list made me think of something I forgot to put on mine...the fair! I love going to the fair in the fall!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I must just say that I'm sorry that I put up all those quizzes. I'm sick that way too, that's why I have all those quizzes on my blog today. I have a whole 'nuther set just waiting.

How in the world do you get Mr. Linky to work on your blog? I have messed with it and messed with it and I can't get it to come up. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Fried pickles are just too good.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I see you got your GG update. SVU was a repeat from last season. A new one is on next week.

I watch All My Children, so I've been seeing all the Laura Returns commercials too. Good luck resisting.

The fair sounds like fun. Thanks for visiting my Blog.

    ReplyDelete
  36. i am intrigued by that new show day break, plus taye diggs is yummy.
you are a stronger womkan than i am resisting the luke and laura reunion.
    lol
thanks for visiting my tt this week.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Fair always = funnel cakes...lol Isn't that why I go? I think it just may be..lol

fried pickles??? I have never heard of them. Are they good? I tried batter and fried avacado the other day... that was a little weird and I LOVE me some avacado.

    Happy TT

    ReplyDelete
  38. Great list!

BTW- I HATE when I have to witness my 3-yr old's feelings being hurt! I guess it's a part of growing up, but I sure do wish I could keep her from it!

    My 1st TT is up!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love State fairs. Popcorn and hotdogs are my poison of choice, though.

I don't blame you for wanting to slap little sea. What a brat!

Thanks for commenting on my T13

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't think I have ever had a fried pickle, but I love funnel cake. I was a Days of Our Lives fan when I was in junior high, never understood the whole Luke and Laura hoopla.

    Thanks for stopping by.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I read the whole post, and all I can remember is "funnel cake." LOL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. i loooove fried pickles!

mr rogers in infinitely better than barney. this is a sad world we live in when pbs replaces mr. rogers with that annoying dinosaur.

    ReplyDelete
  43. you missed nothing on gilmore girls. ugh. this show has gone downhill. Logan visited Rory. Lorelai and Christopher had a fight. Gripping television.

    ReplyDelete
  44. We went to the fair last weekend, lots of fun!

Sea sounds like a little girl that needs to be avoided, every day!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I thought tha same thing about that show daybreak! I don't know how well its gonna do!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Great list. glad you had fun at the fair! thanks for visiting my TT!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Great list, I haven't been to a fair in years and years. Also, I'm with ya on the new SVU lady. It drives me crazy, I feel like she was a child actress that I can't place. She does lool like the girl from Even Stevens, but I don't think that's her. I can hardly pay attention to the show trying to figure out what she's been in that I've seen.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Do yolu suppose they resureccted Genie Franxcis' character from the dead? Something they are soooo good at doing...LOL.
Did you use top watch GH when Norma Connolly was still alive? She played "Aunt Ruby"...and she was Luke's Aunt, I think....(I didn't watch this show but Norma was a good frend....)
    Great TT Tracie...!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Sorry you missed out on GG. I want to see the old Rory, the one who didn't need a man! Where did she go? Oh that's right, Season 4.

    Thanks for the plug!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Thanks for stopping by my TT.

I got my DS1 on The Shockwave at Six Flags in September. We got to the top and he said, "There's LOOPS?!?!"

    ha ha ha

    ReplyDelete
  51. Awesome TT!!!

I love blingo too. Have ya signed up for Search chips or Winzy? the links are on my blog. ;) I love all three. I am getting a iPod Shuffle from Search chips. HEEEHEEE

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I was reading along your list and thinking of things to comment, because so many I could relate to...

we had the same issue with my daughter when she started kindergarten (snotty girl) AWFUL to see and go through as a parent...

Every time I see SVU I read it as SUV...

Anywho -- I could bore you with comments on all 13, but then that would make 2 T13 lists for me in one day and I am SURE there is a law against that somewhere!

    (Thanks for stopping by mine!)

    Blessings,
    Karla

    ReplyDelete
  53. I have to set the DVR for Gilmore Girls every week. I didn't read all the comments to see, but L&O wasn't new last night if someone didn't say that already. Happy TT!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Mmmm...chili cheese fries & funnel cakes...that sounds so good!

I love fairs! Our local county fair has hand cut french fries with vinegar...they are so yummy!

    ReplyDelete
  55. #5 - My exact thought when I first saw the commercial was "Gee, I remember the first time I saw that...when it was called Groundhog Day."

    Thanks for stopping by! :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. DOWN with the Purple Dinosaur! Get him OUT of there! ;)

Thanks for stopping by my Thursday 13 today!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I haven't been to the fair since the first year we moved to Colorado :(

    ReplyDelete
  58. re: #5 - I thought the same thing!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Funnel Cakes! I haven't had those in ages!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Thank you. I am now hungry for carnival food.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oops -- published too fast. Go to www.televisionwithoutpity.com. They recap GG (a recaplet, at first, which is shorter, followed by a full-length one a couple of days later), all done with a crazy sense of humor. They recap lots of shows, by the way, not just GG.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Great list! Sounds like you had a great time at the fair. I love the "25" thing!! Thanks for visiting my TT today!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Ooh, chilli cheese chips, that sounds great!

Kids (re:Sea) can just be stupid sometimes, they are just cruel. There are a few cruel adults but I think children really take the cake... was told about something that happened in Australia this year where a bunch of 14yo boys abused a mentally disabled girl and set her hair on fire and pissed on her. So horrible, but also I feel so torn about how to feel about those boys, they should be punished but their punishment could make them keep their cruelty as opposed to not having done that and possibly growing up to be a normal adult, not a cruel child.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Mmmmmmm! Funnel Cakes.

What is PBS thinking by substituting Barney for Mr. Rogers?

    Thanks for visiting my TT.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Fun list! Re: #13 - she does look a lot like the Even Stevens girl. Woah!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I search with Blingo. Haven't won anything yet!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I am the biggest General Hospital fan, I am so excited about Laura, it is more exciting the Lost or Grey's Anatomy, I know I am a nerd, but I cannot help myself. We get GH during my daughter's nap, it is my favorite hour of the day!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I need to go to our state fair, which is also running here in Arizona.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy TT!

Thanks for stopping by my hallowed grounds :) I love your list, and have enjoyed catching up on your blog.

  70. I'm not too sure about fried pickles but that Mrs. Chicky is a real gem!

I think there is a secret message in that coded text "25." I'll be pondering that as I drift off to sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Great TT. Very interesting. I'm going to do the

    ReplyDelete
  72. Fried Pickles? Sounds interesting. Not sure where I can find those but next time I have a chance I will definitely give them a try.

    Here from Micheles.

    ReplyDelete
  73. mmmm... funnel cakes. Here fair fare (heh) runs more to giant pretzels and candied almonds. There was one in our village this weekend, so we walked there. Oh, my aching legs.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Sea does not sound like a nice child. Have you talked to her parents?

No idea what funnel cakes and fried pickles are but will believe you if you say they are nice.

    Thanks for visiting my TT

    ReplyDelete
  75. I've always said you haven't really experienced a state fair in it's entirety unless you've had the funnel cake. No guilt required. Isn't it fun and it's even better if you get to experience it through a child's eyes. Thank you for stopping by....I love your blog. Have a good weekend.

    Toodles,
    maryanne

    ReplyDelete
  76. Thanks for the TT drop in!

I read your boiled peanuts story.

My learning from that is when bringing something exotic or different to someone eat it with them. They need supervision! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  77. I am so with you on #7!

    11. Wow, we have had some experience with that one. This girl is in my 5 yr old K class, and is nicer to her now, but is starting to be mean to Anna again. All I can do is talk to her again about how trying to be friends with some one like this is such a waste of time.

I hope you are able to talk to Katrina about this, I know it's hard when they are so young. At these ages, they want have a best friend so badly! It's hard to hear you child talk about being hurt and not be able to do anything about it.

    Thanks for visitng my TT!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Great Thursday 13! Number 9 is my favorite -- your little girl sounds adorable!

    Thanks for visiting my site.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Great T13. I always come up with writers block when I do my T13.

    Thanks for stopping by.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I love funnel cakes, but I can't walk around the State Fair anymore without a lot of back and hip pain. I've started calling it "My Trick Hip" because it makes my right leg go out from under me intermittenly and at the most inopportune times (like when I've just met a cute guy. That's attractive, right? "Hey how you doing?": signal Trick Hip, I fall to the floor. Oh well, at least it makes my life interesting.)

I don't watch much tv, but like I said in my list of TT this time, I watch mostly the Sci-Fi channel bc I'm a nerd like that. I watch Heroes, Dr. Who, Dead Like Me, Battlestar Gallactica and basically any other B movie they show. I'm a sucker for B Sci-Fi movies.

  81. Kids can be surprisingly random in their behaviors to other children sometimes...

    Hello from Michele's!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Holy carp, Tracie. 86 coomments so far?? This Thurday 13 thing has really taken off!

Michele sent me to you though I thought I was going to Mom-in-Progress. Michele can be that way sometimes!

I went to a fair last Sunday and I had a sore lower back for a few hours afterward. It's amazing what walking for a while on concrete will do to you. I didn't have anything to eat--fair type foods don't appeal to me--but my girlfriend had the same things to eat as you plus some fried ears of corn and a coney dog.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Fried pickles have become a favorite appetizer of mine. They're surprisingly satisfying.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Hi Tracie, I'm so sorry it took me a day to get back to you! Yesterday just got away from me completely. I hate that kids are learning life's hardest lesson's earlier and earlier these days--one of the reasons I'm so ambivalent about parenthood.

Secondly: "Chillie Cheese Fries and the Funnel Cakes and the Fried Pickles."?!!! I feel an attack of sympathetic indegestion coming on! :-D But the fair's a special occassion so what the hay!

Third: While Mr. Rogers has forever creeped me out, Barney is much, much worse.

Fourth: OMG Luke & Laura! My mom used to watch that when I was little. My dad would come home from work and I would start in with: "Well Daddy, Luke and Laura this," and "Luke and Laura that;" he had to stop and ask my mom: "Are these real people she's talking about?"

Fifth: Can you tell I enjoyed your list? :-D

    ReplyDelete
  85. I use Blingo, too! I haven't won anything, yet, but I keep trying! Thanks for visiting my site, and have a terrific weekend!
