Now You Can Hear Me Say Words

Something fun.

Do you have an accent?

Do I have an accent?

I saw it first from Busy Mom, and then at A Day in My NYC, and also at This Full House. Vlogs where they demonstrated their accents, or lack of accents.

I told myself this year that I would vlog. I would pull out the camera, summon my courage, and speak to you....and this seemed like a good opportunity. So I  forced asked Katarina to record me...

What do you think, do I have an accent?

(Also, it is now clear to me that I need to get a lamp for the right side of the room, I'm looking at little "Phantom of the Opera" with my half shadowed face.)

In exchange for being my camera-woman, Katarina wanted to do her own vlog for you. Here she is reading the list of words....

What do you think, does she sound like me?

Now it is your turn....
If you want to follow along or do the Accent Vlog yourself, here are the words/questions:
Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught
  • What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
  • What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
  • What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
  • What do you call gym shoes?
  • What do you say to address a group of people?
  • What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
  • What do you call your grandparents?
  • What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
  • What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
  • What is the thing you change the TV channel with?

If you do it, be sure to let me know so I can come laugh at how you say words hear your lovely voice.

  6. Those were so much fun to listen to! Maybe at some point I'll do one too, even if I cover up the cam and just do the talking thing. :)

  7. Oh hells no. Not me. I'm not having everyone laughing at my Scottish accent and calling me "Sean Connery".

  11. You maybe have just a teensy weensy one...but for the most part you say all your words normally (aka how I say them!)

  12. You are adorable...and VERY southern. :)

I should do this. I am quite sure I have a bit of a Canadian accent.

  14. Okay, first of all how genius-adorable-and FUN is this post? I love it!

I also love accents, so this one? Right up my alley!

And last, but not least- I think it's uber cute that your little one helped you out! :)

  15. This looks like fun. Being from the East Coast of Canada, I think it would be interesting for me to share my accent.

Not sure if it is going to happen though - my maternity leave is over on Monday so I no longer have the house to myself (and the baby) during the days. And you can be sure I won't be sitting in front of the camera reading these words when my husband's in the same room! :)
