Important Television Advice

This important piece of advice is brought to you by my tears.

So many tears.

And my empty tissue boxes.

When your family goes to bed early, it is dangerous to stay up all night catching up on three weeks worth of missed tv shows online.

Watching consecutive episodes of Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, and Parenthood could cause *extreme dehydration due to loss of tears.

Tissue Box

If you insist on catching up on tv watching, stick with Bones, Grimm, and Once Upon A Time.

Or at least save The Office and New Girl for the end of the night, so your eyes won't be quite as puffy in the morning.

It is possible I watch too many tv shows.

What are you watching this season?

*This is not medical advice and should not be taken as such. I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn last night, WebMD scares me, and I was too busy crying my way through television shows to attend medical school.

  1. OH if I am up late it is always Criminal Minds period. I love that show and truthfully don't keep up with the current shows as such. I know I am weird

    1. I like Criminal Minds too. I always seem to catch it in reruns and miss the new episodes.

  2. I am dying with anticipation of the return of Suits. Harvey Specter is my teevee husband and I miss him terribly.

    1. Suits!! Yes. I like that one too. In fact, I like a lot of USA shows - Royal Pains, Covert Affairs, Psych.

  3. We don't do much these days, just a few sitcoms: How I Met Your Mother, The Office, 30 Rock...we did catch Mindy and it was alright.

There are more things on cable we like - Walking Dead, Louie, Mad Men (when it comes back), and Breaking Bad.

So many of our shows are on their last season, though. Dunno what we'll watch then! I haven't been interested in much of the newer stuff.

    1. I've just recently seen a few episodes of How I Met Your Mother. Pretty funny. I saw the first Mindy. I'm hoping it finds a good groove, I loved her on The Office, and she wrote some of my favorite episodes.

LOVE Mad Men. I haven't tried Breaking Bad or Walking Dead, but everyone seems to love them. I have a hard time with AMC shows because I can't watch them online. I make a real effort to see Mad Men on the tv when they do the 3am reruns.

HATE when shows I love end. That isn't fun at all.

  4. I started MadMen last week. Although usually I lean more towards the sci-fi (Eureka, Warehouse 13, Torchwood and etc)
Having had many shows banned while I was growing up, I also find guilty pleasure in old episodes of Buffy, Roswell, Charmed and so on.

    1. I watched the first few episodes of Warehouse 13 when it first came out and liked it. I might have to look for it again (like I need another show to watch - ha!) Do you watch Grimm? It isn't exactly Sci-fi, but it is definitely in the fantasy realm.

I know EXACTLY what you mean about being banned from watching shows growing up. The list of shows everyone my age watched as children that I wasn't allowed to watch is extensive. I've had a few Buffy guilty pleasure moments of my own.

  5. We're watching Band of Brothers right now. I love Bones, The Closer, Lie to Me, The Office ... I used to watch Desperate, Grey's, 24 hrs ... oh yes! I'm watching Mad Men, but only when I'm alone because my husband doesn't like it.

    1. I loved the Closer too. They have that new show that replaced it, now that Kyra Sedgwick is gone, but I haven't tried it.

I haven't watched Band of Brothers, but that is one my husband would watch with me. He doesn't like any medical dramas, or Mad Men. But he does watch Law & Order SVU...

Oooh, I forgot to mention that one in my post. I love SVU.

  6. After every episode of Parenthood, I look at DH & tell him how much I hate that show b/c I have cried through every single episode this season!

    1. Yes. This.

I have cried in every episode too. Sigh.

It is so good...and so bad. All at the same time.

  7. It's a good think you are funny, it balances out the tears.

  8. Did you say tee vee? I love the tee vee!

I can't bring myself to watch Parenthood this season. (my favorite show on tee vee)

Gossip Girl is back and so awful this season. 8 episodes left and this is what they're giving me? They should have ended it last season.

Me and the hubs are hooked on Vegas and Nashville is good.

    Revolution is good too.

Totally disappointed in Life After Top Chef. (so boring)

And of course there's Grey's and Scandal and Real Time w/ Bill Maher.

    1. Parenthood is rough this season. SO good, but rough. I get your need to stay away.

I've been hearing good things about Nashville. Might have to check it out.

I didn't even make it through an entire episode of Life After Top Chef, and usually those Bravo reality shows can pull me in like a pint of ice cream.

  9. I am two or three episodes behind on Parenthood because I cannot bring myself to watch the episode with the big "c". I know it's coming. It's sitting in my Hulu queue... and I just can't do it. Tell me I can do it, Tracie. Can I handle it??? lol

    1. You can handle it.

      Bring extra tissues.

Have my number on speed dial just in case.

For some reason I've never seen Damages.

    1. That is a good thing. Someone should probably limit mine.

  12. I think Parenthood is one of the best shows on tv, along with Modern Family. Love 'em both.
