Automatic Flushing Toilets

I have been potty training my daughter for what seems like forever, but the last few days she has been doing great!! It really is a wonderful thing. Now, you might wonder what this has to do with my title......well here it is-

Today we went to eat at Fire Mountain and during our meal Katarina said that she needed to use the potty. That is great-she recognised it before she went and off we were to the restroom. She sat on the potty (I know you all are so excited to read about this.....)and did her buisness.........so far so good one happy kid and a happy mommy......what could be the problem? Well, all of the sudden she mooved around just a little bit and here it comes-the loud noise-the rushing water-the panic-the crying-the fear! That is right you have guessed it.... The toilet flushed itself (very loudly must I reiterate) while she was sitting on it. Gggrrrrrrr. Right then and there I wanted to go find the person who invented automatic flushing toilets and punch him or her right in the nose!

Thankfully as the day progressed we went to my father-in-law's house and I was able to get her back on the potty and she seems to be okay, but she did tell me "Mommy, don't let the potty flush until I tell it to!"

So if any of you decide to open up a buisness or restaurant, please do all of us potty-training parents a favor and get the cheap toilets we have to flush ourselves.

  9. I know exactly what you mean about those automatic flushing toilets. I think it's a common pet peeve of many potty-training moms. A fellow MOPS mom suggested covering the sensors with those sticky post-its to make sure they don't flush before dear little princess is done.

  11. I've heard a lot of kids are freaked out by the automatic toilets. My 5 yr old son never cared. My 2 yr old is in the process of training right now, we're not at the public arena yet, so we'll have to see how he does with those.
