Full Of Thoughts - We Are Okay

I looked at the clock and realized it was after 3pm. Almost a whole day has slipped by.

I'm full of thoughts lately.

Thoughts of things I can't control.

Thoughts of a survivor and friend lost too soon.

Thoughts of a family member who is hurting.

Thoughts of a disappointing phone call.

Thoughts of someone I love but cannot help.

Sometimes there are so many thoughts, it is paralyzing.

Sometimes the task seems too big. The fight too hard. The words too much.

Anne Lamott Quote You Own Everything That Happened To You

Then. Then I open up my inbox and find an email waiting with just the right words.

And I know I'll keep writing. Keep speaking. Keep fighting.

"You own everything that happened to you. Tell your stories. If people wanted you to write warmly about them, they should've behaved better." - Anne Lamott

I do the best I can with what I have...and that is okay.

I am okay. And so are you.

  3. This gave me chills, Tracie. You're so right. All you can do is your very best, whether it's speaking out, writing, sharing, etc. You'll be okay. And so will I. There are always thoughts in my head - haunting memories from the past that rise up like bile in my throat. I needed to hear this today. I think we all do at some point in our lives. :)

  4. I so agree! And it's always good to be reminded that one should keep writing and speaking one's mind! Let the chips fall where they may!

  6. Just last weekend I was doing a lot of socializing and just telling my stories and I'd kept hearing: You really need to write this all down.
Indeed. I wish I could get past whatever stupid barrier prevents me from doing this more often.
Thank you for the gentle reminder.

I am hugging you through this keyboard.

  9. I have trouble being that raw on my blog. Most of the time I have enough other outlets that it doesn't matter. But sometimes I wish ...

  11. I accidentally came across this blog while trying to pin that quote picture on pinterest. Your blog is now linked on there so maybe more people who need to see this can accidentally come across it as well. (I posted it under "writing inspiration" but the link to this post is there when you click the picture, but I wrote in the url to this blog as well).

  12. Hi Tracie,

A friend shared this typewriter / Anne Lamott graphic with me on FaceBook, as I've been having more than a little difficulty this month with a family member who's been trying (but not succeeding!) to silence me. I followed the url and found your blog. So great to "meet" you! I shall definitely be reading through the rest of your posts.

I'm wondering if you would mind me posting that graphic on my own blog? (I'm at www.alyssawright.blogspot.com) It's very timely in my own life, and I think it will help many others in the same position. Will of course give credit and send folks your way too. Please let me know.

    Thanks for telling your story!
    Alyssa
