Hope Is The Thing With Feathers

Hope is the thing with feathers

In my year-long focus on hope, I have been reading other people's words about hope. I love the thought of hope as a bird, the way Emily Dickinson describes it.

What is bringing you hope today?

  1. My daughter read this to me from an Emily Dickinson quote book just the other day!

Today I see hope in the humanity that exists inside of everyone. It's not always easy to see, especially if someone is acting "less than kind," but I keep reminding myself that we are all entitled to have a bad day and when we do it doesn't make us bad people, it simply makes us human.

  4. I absolutely love that poem. I don't know why I haven't seen it before. Today, what gives me hope? The sparkle in my 15 year old daughter's eye.

  9. ......
And sweetest in the gale is heard
and sore must be the storm
that could abash the little bird
    that kept so many warm

I've heard it in the chillest land
    and on the strangest sea,
    yet never, in extremity
it asked a crumb of me.

Oh, Tracie, I love this poem. When I was in the darkest depths of recovery I memorized it and would recite it to myself over and over and over again. Thanks for posting!

  11. Hope for me is: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so I would have told yo. I am going there to prepare a place for you." John 14:1-2
